The Dental Minds Difference
What a visit to the dentist should be
At Dental Minds, we believe in doing things differently. Our dentistry approach focuses on helping and educating our fellow Chicagoans so they can take the best care of their oral health.
In our carefully designed Logan Square office, we work with our patients using a prevention-first approach, helping them minimize the risks of developing dental issues such as tooth decay and gum disease. Yet, sometimes life happens and a tooth removal just can’t be avoided.
It’s usually the last resort to extract a tooth. However, in cases of severe infection, tooth decay, abscesses, gum disease, or broken teeth, tooth extraction is often necessary.
If you need a tooth extraction in Logan Square, or if you are concerned about any dental problem, we are here for you. Dr. Cho and Dr. Moon will work with you to diagnose whatever is wrong and find out if you really need an extraction.
Dental Minds is dentistry done differently. Our highly-skilled dentists believe in:
Clear pricing — no surprises
Tailor-made treatment plans
High-tech, stress-free dental care
Educating and empowering patients
Are There Benefits to Removing a Tooth?
When an extraction is the best option
If for any reason your tooth can’t be saved with a root canal or other treatments, Dr. Cho or Dr. Moon may recommend you to have a tooth extraction after diagnosing your condition. Although it may sound scary at first, there are some benefits to a tooth removal:
- In some cases, it eases the pain caused by seriously fractured or infected teeth
- Extracting severely damaged or infected teeth lowers the risk of further damage
At our dental office in Logan Square, our team will explain the pros and cons of this procedure. If there are any alternative options to extraction, we will talk to you about them as well. We’ll address all your concerns so you can feel as comfortable as possible!
The Tooth Extraction Procedure
What to expect
Before the procedure, your dentist — Dr. Cho or Dr. Moon — will make sure you feel comfortable. He will give you a local anesthetic to numb the area and ensure you don’t feel any discomfort.
After numbing the area, your dentist will carefully loosen and remove the tooth, disinfecting the area to prevent an infection. Depending on your case, you may need a surgical extraction.
If you’re feeling nervous about tooth extraction, talk to us! We will make sure the procedure is as comfortable as possible for you.
The Final Touch
“How can you replace my tooth?”
Although not ideal, tooth removal isn’t the end of the world. Getting a tooth extracted doesn’t mean you can’t have a beautiful smile!
There are many alternatives to replacing an extracted/missing tooth. At Dental Minds, replacement options include:
- Implants and crowns: An implant is inserted in the jawbone to substitute the tooth’s root. Then, we place a crown to replace the missing tooth. This is a long-lasting solution that can help you recover the function and beauty of your smile.
- Other alternatives: bridges, partial dentures, and full dentures
Your dentist will talk to you about your options and answer any questions you may have so you can make the best decision.
Dental Insurance & Financing
“Will dental insurance pay for my tooth extraction?”
We work with many major PPO insurance companies. Depending on your insurance plan, and whether or not you’ve reached your yearly cap, your tooth removal may be entirely or partially covered. Our front office team will check your benefits and let you know if there’s any out-of-pocket cost to your procedure you should know about before we start.
If you don’t have dental insurance, don’t worry. We also have flexible payment options. Ask our staff!
