“What should my crown be made from?”
We’re all about choices and recommending what’s best for you. The material that’s best for your crown depends on a variety of factors, including aesthetics, location of the crown, and durability. At our office, we offer crown options including:
- Gold – Noted for its durability and precise fit
- Tooth-colored Porcelain – Great for front teeth where a natural white color is desired
- Zirconia – Balance of aesthetics and durability
Our high-tech crowns are digitally designed using a 3D scan of your tooth. The end result is an amazing crown, a faster turnaround time than old-fashioned crowns, and it’s more environmentally friendly, too!
Our Crowning Achievements
Our process for making a crown begins by creating a model of your tooth. From this model, we’ll craft a durable temporary crown that you can wear until your finished crown is complete. Our temporaries are very strong and you’ll be able to eat without worry.
We partner with a local dental lab. They are known for their skill in crafting picture-perfect dental crowns that fit perfectly. Once we receive the finished restoration, we’ll invite you back to our office where we’ll bond the crown into place, check your bite, and make any final adjustments.
As long as you brush and floss at home and maintain good oral health by seeing us for your regular exams and cleanings, your dental crown can last for decades!

At Dental Minds, our office is in-network with many major PPO insurances. Depending on your insurance plan, your dental crown will likely be covered in part or full. Our front office staff will explain your benefits and your expected out-of-pocket cost.

Our office is following guidance from the CDC and ADA to ensure we provide care that’s as safe as possible during all procedures, including root canals, implants, and crowns in Chicago. We take social distancing, sanitation, air purification, and masking very seriously.
