Cracked Canine/Cuspid

New postby DaveC on Fri Jan 29, 2010 7:38 am

Hi, I had a cracked canine which I believe was merely artificial than anything serious but I had it filled with composite bonding today.

Its alot better, but I seem to have a small hole/indent at the top of the tooth where the composite meets the tooth (the composite meets the top of the crack). Would you suggest going back and asking my dentist about it? Im slightly worried that it would allow my tooth to go rotten, Ive never lost a tooth but im terrified about losing one in the future :lol2:

Thanks

Oh and a second question, basically I would like to protect what enamel I have left, is it ok to use an enamel toothpaste and a regular toothpaste at the same time? Or like enamel toothpaste in the morning and regular toothpaste in the evening.

You could certainly go in for a quick look to see if the spot is a concern. A defect at the composite margin can possibly stain or collect plaque over time. If it's minor or just "flash" (excess composite), sometimes it can be adjusted and polished. In other cases a small composite repair can be done if needed.

There shouldn't be a problem using a variety of toothpastes in the same day if you want to.
